Ian Hawkins

Air Handling Unit Service Engineer

Starting off as an electrician by trade, working with his father-in-law, Ian often assisted service engineers on site, giving him a good insight into the role he’s working in now. Whilst working in ventilation wasn’t something he initially considered, when the opportunity came up with Swegon, he naturally fell into it.

His career with Swegon began as a Service Improver, progressing on to become an Air Handling Unit Service Engineer. With on-the-job training available, as well as working alongside other experienced engineers, Ian has been able to naturally progress in his current role. With most of his work being on different sites, he enjoys the amount of freedom in the job, as well as being able to work all over the UK mainland.

Although there are some jobs that end up taking a bit more time than others, there is a good amount of daily structure, and with his current schedule, he is still able to spend a lot of time with his young family.

Ian’s team may work remotely, but there’s always opportunities to ask someone for help and support - especially from Ian’s manager, who is always there when he needs, and over the years, the team have met up quarterly, with regular communication with each other between meetings.
