Airflow and temperature regulation
Airflow and temperature are the core in the operation of an Air Handling Unit. Swegon GOLD units have all functionality to achieve a perfect indoor environment and optimise the energy consumption.
Airflow regulation
There are several ways to control the airflow in a building, from constant air volume to a more demand-oriented regulation.
- Constant air volume
The speed of the fans is automatically regulated to provide required airflow, even when the filters or the air diffusers become clogged. Choose set points for low speed and high speed, in l/s, m³/s, m³/h or cfm. - Variable air volume
Room sensors control damper operations which increase or decrease the air volume in parts of the ventilation system. This allows zoning in the building and makes the system more energy efficient. - Demand controlled air volume
Adding air quality sensors, measuring CO2 or VOC, you can control airflow and temperature in an even more exact and dynamic way.
Airflow regulation functions
- Density-corrected airflow (patented function)
As air density differs at different temperature, this function makes sure that the defined airflow is obtained at any time. - Setpoint displacement (e.g. assembly halls)
This is a function for areas where presence varies. An external signal, e.g. from a potentiometer, regulates the airflow between a higher and a lower flow. The IQlogic+ module accessory is required. - Pressure balance corrected airflow (for GOLD RX). The extract airflow is guaranteed with consideration given to the air purging and leakage airflow.
- Outdoor air compensation
Adapts the airflow at specific outdoor air temperatures - Air adjustment
The speed of the fans can be locked for up to 72 hours at the current speed of operation. This is handy when making airflow adjustments in the duct system and air terminals. - Booster diffusers
The diffusor pattern is adjusted depending on whether the supply air is warmer or cooler than the room air/extract air. Special diffusors and IQlogic+ module are required. - The Optimize function is used when GOLD is connected to a WISE room management system, and it optimizes the pressure in the duct system.
Temperature regulation
The IQlogic system offers flexible and sophisticated methods for controlling the temperature in a building, such as:
- Extract Air Temperature-Related Supply Air regulation - to regulate the supply air temperature in relation to the extract air temperature
- Supply air regulation - to maintain a constant supply air temperature regardless of the building's load
- Extract air/ Room regulation - to maintain a constant temperature in the extract air duct by regulating the supply air temperature
- Seasonal Controlled Temperature regulation - to enable switching between two different temperature control methodes based on the outdoor temperature

Temperature regulation functions
- Set Point Displacement - to adjust the set point for supply and exhaust air temperatures
- Neutral Zone - To prevent cooling and heating systems from counteracting each other by adding set neutral zone to the heating set point
- Night compensation - To lower and raise the water temperature during night periods and vacations for energy saving
- Xzone - Allows to control one extra temperature zone seperately from the main zone when different parts of a building have different temperature needs
- Combi-coil - Can function as both an air heater and an air cooler
- Summer Night Cooling - To utilize the lower temperature during the night
- Intermittent Night Heat - To utilize the unit to heat premises when it would normally be shut off by a timer
- Morning Boost - The unit starts prior to the scheduled operating time to heat the premises to the ordinary room temperature
