Mark Hammond

Cooling Service Engineer Supervisor

Knowing he wanted to work in a trade before becoming an engineer, Mark’s previous company was looking for an apprentice, giving him a leg up in his current role. Since then, Mark has been an engineer for over 10 years, spending the last 3 with Swegon working within the Cooling team.

For Mark, Cooling was an interesting area to go into, as he didn’t have much of a background within the industry at time. He has now progressed into the water chiller side of the business, moving onto a supervisor role with opportunities to push forward, keeping him busy whilst he gets to grips with the new area of the business.

Over the last year, Mark has been able to complete several courses to help him progress in his career and understand his role more. With the new skills gap analysis coming in, he is beginning to complete training tailored to him and his role. To ensure Swegon engineers are as confident in their roles as possible, there is constant training available that is often recommended in appraisals to help the engineers develop their career in the long run.

As well as the varied days in different areas, one of the perks of the job for Mark is being trusted and getting a good amount of freedom within his role. With the option of overtime available, he says the team are very good at organizing the engineers, even when the jobs end up changing at short notice.
