Damper position optimisation
Damper position optimisation builds on SuperWISE which calculates and adapts the pressure in the duct system, and aims for the lowest possible operating pressure. As the calculations and adaptations are based on all WISE products' damper positions, this functionality can minimise pressure losses in the entire system.
Main functionality
This damper position optimisation adjusts fan speed accordingly after analysing damper positions on both plant and room level.
When the duct pressure remains at the lowest possible level, based on demand, significant energy savings can be obtained. This stems from efficient operation of fans, and brings further benefits in terms of sound generation.
Added value
This optimisation function generates notable benefits, such as:
- Reduced energy consumption
- Limited risk for noise
- No pressure sensors needed
- Optimised placement of AHU pressure sensor (close to unit)
- Connected SuperWISE and GOLD, no BMS needed
Description
SuperWISE analyses all damper positions for all room products in a zone. If all damper positions are between 70-90%, no changes are made.
- The same happens at zone level. If all damper positions are between 70-90%, no changes are made.
If all damper positions falls below 70%, SuperWISE communicates a new damper position setpoint, more closed, to the superior zone damper.
- The same goes for zone level. If all damper positions fall below 70%, SuperWISE adjusts accordingly.
If one damper position reaches above 90%, a more open position setpoint is communicated to that specific damper.
- Also, if one damper position reaches above 90%, a higher pressure setpoint is delivered to the air handling unit.
Technical details
Setpoints for open and closed damper positions are default, but may be changed by the administrator.
The time between sending new damper positions and set values are specific for each project and needs to be defined during commissioning and start of operation. However, they may be changed in SuperWISE just like the size of each adjustment (in percent and Pascal).
