Density-corrected airflow
The density of air is different at different temperatures, meaning a fixed airflow setting can deliver different actual air volumes in winter compared to summer. GOLD automatically corrects this, so you always obtain the correct air volume. Patented, automatic and standard.
Automatic and included as standard
Air density changes with temperature, meaning a fixed airflow setting can deliver very different actual air volumes in winter compared to summer. Without correction, this leads to imbalanced ventilation, wasted energy, manual recalibration and inaccurate readings.
The patented Density-corrected airflow function solves this automatically, ensuring the airflow you set, is the air flow you get, whatever the season.
Main benefits
Density-corrected airflow provides several important benefits. It keeps airflow true to design values, regardless of season or temperature.
Key benefits include:
- Energy savings: Optimises fan energy and prevents over- or under-ventilation.
- Consistent comfort: Keeps indoor climate stable and compliant with design requirements.
- No manual recalibration: The system adjusts automatically, so you don’t need to make seasonal changes.
- Versatility: Works with all regulation modes — CAV, VAV, DCV, demand control, and slave control.
- Compensation for leakage: Automatically corrects for purging and leakage airflow in rotary heat exchangers.
- Building health: Minimises risks for humidity and mould in the construction.
For buildings with strict energy targets or advanced demand-controlled ventilation, this is a must-have.
How does it work?
The GOLD air handling unit continuously calculates the air density based on temperature and adjusts airflow readings accordingly. This happens automatically in the background, so your system always works with real, corrected values. No extra sensors, no manual input — just patented intelligence built into every GOLD unit.
This is how it works:
- Works with all regulation modes: CAV, VAV, DCV, demand control and slave control.
- Complete flow measurement is built in as standard on all units, which simplifies commissioning and operation. Only in rare cases is an additional sensor needed for the function to work.
- The function also compensates for purging and leakage air flow in rotary heat exchangers as standard.
- The control equipment always displays the corrected airflow.
