GOLD with SMART Link+ & chiller/HP

SMART Link+ ensures that the temperature difference is as small as possible between demanded and supplied temperature, which minimises the energy required to heat or cool.

Main functionality

The SMART Link+ and Chiller/HP function for GOLD provides optimized control over heating and cooling production across one or more GOLD air handling units, paired with up to four chiller or heat pump units. It supports multiple heating and cooling functions. Each GOLD unit communicates its temperature needs, while the producer adjusts to the highest/lowest temperature needed, ensuring at least one valve remains open to save energy. Installation is easy with a TCP/IP connection and seamless integration in GOLD IQ-logic and IQ-Navigator.

How it works

The flow chart above shows the schematics of the SMART Link + and Chiller/HP function. A couple of things to consider:

  • Each GOLD unit keeps the desired fresh/supply air temperature by controlling all connected 3-way valves (and pumps) to it´s respective coils; heating, cooling or reversible
  • SMART Link+ in each GOLD reads the position of all connected valves and sends the highest/lowest required water temperature to the CH/HP/MF
  • The CH/HP/MF gets input from all connected GOLD units (max 10) and produces the water temperature equal to the GOLD that has the highest need
  • To be able to combine different coils from different units with equal demands, you can connect to all included CH/HP/MF (max 2+2=4) from each GOLD separately

Technical details

  • Each GOLD has a water temperature set value for heating (30°C) and for cooling (12°C)
  • The “producers” CH/HPMF have a reference temperature sensor and measures/regulates /maintains the required water temperature
  • The SL+ function in GOLD reads the current reference temp and if necessary, sends a new value to keep all connected valves at an open position between 70-90%
  • the valve that require the highest temperature will set the reference temp. Other valves will go to a more closed position
