GOLD with SMART Link & Chiller/HP 1-1
The SMART Link efficiently controls air temperature, cutting energy costs and integrating chiller/heat pump settings seamlessly into GOLD’s IQ-logic for easy management.
Main functionality
The SmartLink and Chiller/HP 1-1 function for GOLD regulates the supply air temperature of GOLD RX/PX/CX/SD units, providing both heating and cooling. It efficiently manages a one-to-one connection with a Swegon chiller or heat pump, saving energy (2-3%/K) by optimizing water temperature based on actual needs. With a simple Modbus connection, alarms and settings from the chiller/heat pump are displayed in GOLD, while all control functionalities and activations are handled through the integrated GOLD IQ-logic and IQ-Navigator.

How it works
The flow chart above shows the schematics of the SMART Link and Chiller/ HP 1-1 function. A couple of things to consider:
- GOLD keeps the desired supply air temperature by controlling the 3-way valve to the coils
- Neutral zone can be set when unit is not operating
- Regulation can also be based on room temp, extract air temp, or outdoor air related extract air temp
- SmartLink reads the position of the valve and controls the water temperature in the CH/HP to keep the valve as open as possible at all time
- GOLD also compares supply air temp with water temp to coil to make sure that valve only opens if water temperature supports the need (closes when HP goes into defrosting mode f.i)
Technical details
- In GOLD, when selecting Smart Link (1-1) function, the control system automatically activates the extra regulation sequence
- GOLD controls the shunt actuator to keep supply air temp at set point. Neutral zone function is used to set start limits for cooling and heating
- Additional functions can be used to influence the supply air temp set point: Extract air compensation, Outdoor air related extract air compensation & summer night cooling
- When the supply air temp is outside the neutral zone, GOLD sends a water temperature set point (start signal 12°C for cooling, 40°C for heating, adjustable) to the chiller/heat pump.
- GOLD continuously reads the actuator position and sends new temperature set point values to the C/H to keep the valve position between 80%-100%
