Turning Torso, Sweden
Turning Torso is a Deconstructivist skyscraper in Malmö, Sweden, located on the Swedish side of the Öresund strait. Swegon delivered a flexible indoor climate system for comfort in residential and office spaces.
The tower, designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, reaches a height of 190 metres (623 feet) with 54 stories. This masterpiece of engineering houses ten floors of offices, 147 apartments, banqueting premises, wine cellar, conference rooms, gym and more.
It was a big technical challenge to build a skyscraper made up of nine stacked cubes that spiral through a complete quarter turn as they rise from the ground to the 54th floor. As its name implies, the architect, Santiago Calatrava, took his inspiration for this building from the twisting movement of the human body.
Swegon is proud to have supplied the air diffusers and sound attenuators for the Turning Torso’s apartments and offices and succeeded in creating an indoor climate that is healthy and comfortablle to live in and work in.
